There are two different eligibility conditions available for the post of Assistant Professor in Management Studies. One is as per UGC Norms and another one is as per AICTE Norms. According to UGC norms, a candidate possessing PG Degree with minimum of 55% and NET can apply for the post of Assistant Professor in Management Studies. Whereas according to AICTE norms, a candidate possessing MBA with First Class without NET can apply for the Assistant Professor in Management Studies. The interesting issue in this matter is, both conditions are available in UGC Regulations under the Head of Management Discipline.
To clarify the issue, RTI applications were made to the UGC wtih a request to clarify
Whether a candidate possessing either relevant PG (55%) with NET ( or) MBA with First Class is eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in Management Studies. For which the PIO has supplied xerox copies of relevant portion without giving a direct transparent/clear cut reply. Again appeal was made to the First Appellate Authority. In response, the Appellate Authority has directed the PIO of NET Bureau to furnish the information. For which the PIO of NET Bureau has replied that requisite information can not be supplied as the same is not available in the requested format.
As the rule/norms are not clear, application of the respective candidate can be rejected either under first clause or under second clause. Then what is the need for conducting NET examination for Management Studies. If AICTE insist first class, then why UGC is conducting NET for the candidates securing the marks in PG between 55% and 60%. I totally fed up with the reply given by the Apex Body of the Higher Education of India (UGC). I dont know how to clarify in this regard.
