  7. Thanks a ton for replying to so many queries. Will look forward to your blog about Pension rules.
  8. The normal rule is that if one switches jobs, one has to transfer the amount lying in the old EPF account to the New EPF account. One cannot have two EPF account numbers. So, I dont think you have any choice.

Regarding your query on the eligibility under the Employees Pension Scheme I am trying to post a separate blog entry. Please see that when it appears!! [ I hope to do it today itself - but not sure!]
  9. In continuation to earlier query, 2 more queries pls :

    2) i have been working in private companies and they do not provide pension after retirement. Is there a rule that if you are contributing in your govt EPF continuously for 15 years without any break then through this EPF account, instead of withdrawing the whole EPF amount as lump sum at retirement, one can convert it as MONTHLY pension? If yes, then how the monthly pension is calculated?

    3) And in case it is possible to convert it into MONTHLY pension at retirement (after continuous 15 years of contribution), then since now my PF amounts are going into my Company's private PF trust account instead of Govt EPF Account so now will this be considered as a break in the time frame of 15 years continuity? I had completed little less than 14 years in my govt EPF account in December 2010 when my PF started going into Company's PF Trust.

Thank you so very much in advance.
  10. Thanks a lot for a prompt reply. Cud you pls guide me with few more queries.
My earlier company used to deposit in Govt. EPFO Scheme. About 2 years back it got merged with another company. Now this company has their own trust where they deposit employees PF money so for us also since December 2010 they are depositing money in their PF trust. And they gave us a form to transfer money from govt EPF acct to this trust account. I am not keen in transferring my money from govt EPF to private company's trust. Will there be any problems if i do not transfer the amount from my govt. EPF amount to this company's PF trust account? Can i leave the amount as it is in the govt EPF account? Why i am asking this is, bcoz in case i change a job and that new company manages PF in govt EPF then i can again use this existing govt EPF account as well as get the money from the current company's PF Trust account to my govt. EPF account Could you pls advise the best way? Thank you so much in advance.

EPF and Income Tax

by taurus on 05-02-2010 at 08:46 PM
Many subscribers to EPF get a doubt whether the amount of money they are getting at the time of settlement of their EPF account is taxable or not. Similarly there is also a doubt whether, if they resign from a job and get their EPF settled before joining a new job, the amount of such EPF settlement is taxable or not. There is also a common fear that the EPF settlement amount one gets on resigning a job within five years of service is taxable.

All these confusions arise because of the

by taurus on 03-09-2010 at 09:30 PM
Deuctions are made from the salary of employees every month towards EPF. This is reflected in the pay slip. But does the Employer really deposit such recoveries in the EPF account of the employees?

Many times subscribers to the EPF are in doubt whether the employer has remitted the full and correct amount in the EPF account of the employee/subscriber.
Is there any way out to check and verify this? Yes. There is. Please read on...
