Thread: Material form of information

  1. Material form of information

whether the CPIO can advise the applicant to refer to the website of the ministry to have the information and thus deny to furnish information.is it correct on the part of CPIO to give such advices instead of furnishing information. Any decision of CIC in this connection?

    1. Is the information really available on the website ?
If yes, is it complete, correct, uptodate ?
(If not, you can appeal under Section 18 , 1)
    2. Did the PIO inform you in writing, to look up the website for the
    information which you sought ?
(If not, it is a denial of information)
    3. Please make sure that whatever the PIO does (advice, suggest, etc..)
he does in writing. Please DO NOT accept any verbal orders in this case.

By the way, just for my info, did you check the website for the information before applying under RTI ?

Draft a new application and request for the certified copies of the information.

    nile0611,

Yes thats a good way to get a print out of the website duly certified.
I also want to point out that all websites carry "disclaimers".
This basically helps them to evade all issues connected to the website.
