Re: Loss of faith: CIC directs GB Pant Hospital to change surgeon of patient who filed RTI

I have today sent a email to Mr Anuj Dhar:

    Dear Mr Anuj Dhar,

Niether of us are Cellular or Microcellular Biologists. Nor, am I Dr. Hargobind Khurana. But, both of us are aware, that sometimes there is just a small wee bit of chance that our progeny and future generations, might inherit some of our genetic "traits".

May I therefore request you, to leave a small note for your Great Grandchild, so that she or he can take up the matter in the thread:

    http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/rti-ne...filed-rti.html

in 2067, just as you did for Netaji after 60 years !

Most probably, she/he will be told by the PIO that the matter is over 20 years old and therefore does not fall under the purview of the RTI Act.

But no harm in trying, like you did.

    Best Regards,
    Karira

PS: doctorvigilante, sometimes when niether gandhigiri nor RTI work, humour might just do the trick.

Has the government provided funds to GB Pant Hospital to meet the entire expenses connected with BPL patients in general and Ms Jameela in particular ? I remember that even Jameela's and her son's daily food is provided by Parivarthan Activists. We cannot force the Doctors of GB Pant Hospital to bear all the expenses from their own money if it is not provided by government. On the contrary if the government has provided the funds I could find no reason for such behavior of the doctors.

The whole episode is disgusting. RTI.org should display a force here and question the doctor about his audacious manner in treating a patient and write to CIC from RTI.org for recommending suitable counselling of the doctor in question. This collective approach from RT.org put things in correct perspective than action initiated by individual RTI activists.

Re: Loss of faith: CIC directs GB Pant Hospital to change surgeon of patient who filed RTI

I have a feeling that we are getting involved in the issue emotionally rather than reasons. The issue of provision/non-provision of medical care to cityzens/statutory functions of hospital authorities and medical eithics are entirely different issues. The RTI's role is to provide all informations sought for. Once the information sought for is furnished to the full satisfaction of applicant, the role of RTI vis-a-vis CIC ends. It is upto the stakeholders to exploit the information so divulged. Here the issue at this stage is non-provision of medical treatment and its consequences and not denial of information. The persons responsible to find out who is at fault in not providing the entitled treatment and to examine its justifications are the Hospital Authorities, Authorities controlling them,Government, MLA/MP of that area, Ministers etc. Of cource we are at liberty to do anything for the welfare of the poor but it is unfair to mix it up with RTI and unlawful orders of CIC. One should realise that a Doctor of the calibre of Cardiologist will never carry his biased feeling towards anyone when he is facing him as a patient. It is against themedical ethics. It is not the patient who decide as to which doctor to be detailed to perform his duties when and to whom. It is to be decided by the Hospital Administation especially in the case of rare Specialist doctors likeCardiologist. An order changing the Cardiologist amount to challenging the integrity of the doctor. If I was that Cardiologist or Indin Medical Association Authoritiesw of Delhi, I wouyld have taken the CIC tothe Court making him liable for defamation of medical profession compelling to prove it. Of course if the patient can afford, he is at full liberty to go to any doctor of his choice but cannot dictate that a particular doctor should be changed in treating him. What the MLA/MP/Ministers/Government has done in this case ? Has any MLA/Mpbothered toensure that Jameelais treated at government expense ?
