UNIVERSITY LECTURER RECEIVES PAYMENTS DUE USING RTI ACT
Mrs. Rucha Manju Phondge is a University lecturer at Symbiosis College, Pune. Her services at the college were first engaged on a part time basis up to 1998. Around the year 2000, she was converted to a permanent lecturer & her pay scale was increased. However, she did not begin to receive the increase in pay until after 4 years of being made permanent. Rucha decided to take this matter up with concerned departments & approached the Directorate of Education with a plea that arrears from her new pay scale be released. However she was unable to get the concerned officers to take any action. Then her father-in-law advised her to use Right to Information. Rucha filed an application & within a month she received a cheque of Rs.3 Lakh.

    Hi evbody,
Well although it sounds sweet . RTI is getting stronger day by day as people are using it to address their issue which are being kept pending out of personal whims. This shows transparency brings not just transparency but accountability and rule/law abiding habits among typical govt. servants.
