RTI website for Tamil Nadu 'very soon'
Chennai: The Central Information Commission has said that Tamil Nadu's State Information Commission will 'very soon' have a dedicated website.
It may be recalled that the State Information Commissioner, Mr. S.Ramakrishnan had announced on July 14, 2006 that the SIC would soon have a website designed by the National Informatics Commission to host all important decisions.
In response to an e-mailed question to the Chief Information Commissioner, Mr. Wajahat Habibullah last week, Mr. S.Paul, of the CIC said "As per the available information, the Tamil Nadu State Information Commission's website is already under the process of development. Very soon it is going to be launched".
At present, the SIC does not have a full-fledged website of its own, and provides the contact information of the State Information Commissioner and two Information Commissioners on a page hosted on the Tamil Nadu Government's website.
Several Government departments in Tamil Nadu have also not complied so far with the requirement under the RTI Act to provide information pro-actively on their administrative structure, procedures and powers.
