Thread: cheque bouncing

  1. cheque bouncing

In the event of cheque bouncing, is it likely that both the banks( Presenter and Approver) are empowered to debit cheque bouncing charges?? or only the approver bank should levy charges to the individual

  2. Re: cheque bouncing

Levy of charges on various services (including cheque returns) is left to the discretion of the individual banks with certain broad guidelines of RBI forming the basis for such charges. Invariably it is the practice of both the presenting bank and the paying bank to collect service charges on cheque returns. These charges vary from bank to bank depending on the individual bank's policies and guidelines.
