  1. RTI should act as deterrent: Prime Minister

    The Right to Information Act has to be effectively utilized so that it will not only act as a deterrent but also empower citizens to bring to light any acts of corruption. In fact, non-governmental organizations and concerned groups of citizens can and should use the RTI Act to combat corruption in public life.

    Following is the text of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's keynote address at the conference of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and state anti-corruption bureaus on Friday:

    Information has huge impowering potential. And internet has become the foremost plateform for dissemination of information.

    I believe that we can as member of this community can contribute a lot towards development, dessemination of RTI and combat Corruption.

    MY SUGGESTION: P.M.should review the progress,success,problems by holding meetings with information commissioners , NGOs like RTI india,Anticorruption movements periodically.

    Excellent suggestion that PM should hold periodic meetings with ICs and NGOs working on RTI. Anyone has suggestions how to ask PM to hold such meetings? Should we all send individual emails to his office? Should we draft a letter and have members sign it? Or some other way to accomplish this?
