Hello,A residential premises of flats in Chennai entrusted for maintenance on good faith to third party, and the owner goes away for long duration. In the absence of the owner manager sells some of the portions in fictious names, and also sublets some of portions to the known criminals who have undergone prison terms in goondas acts. On arrival the owner of the premises has to file a criminal and civil suits. The problem is the corrupt area police station does not provide the list of the tenents presently living in the premises with their tenement agreements with address proofs such as Voter identity,Aadhar Card,Ration Card etc. There is a rule in Chennai, a tenent should provide as a record the copy of his/her tenancy agreement with passport size photo to the area police station. Since area police station dilly dallies the own prefers an RTI from the higher police authorities to obtain these particulars to establish as proof in the court. Which are the higher police authorities to be applied for coming under RTI ACT and who could furnish these recorded material information.Answer will be much appreciated as these proofs are needed to establish a suit.

You have to file your RTI application with the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the concerned Police Station (also please note that, under RTI, you are not supposed to file your RTI application with the higher police authorities but you are supposed to file it with the PIO of the concerned police station only).

    Please read:
