Thread: CBSE retotalling

  1. CBSE retotalling

    Hi friends!

I have a serious problem. Please help. My nephew appeared for his 12th CBSE board in 2007 as a private candidate. He had flunked the previous year, but this year he studied very hard. Now, here's the issue - CBSE has a system where the previous year's marks for practicals can be carried over to the next year. Now, it seems that they copied both the practical and the theory marks for two subjects viz. physics and chemistry. His marks in these two subjects for practical and theory is exactly the same. Hence, the doubt. He had done extremely well in his exams. His scores in other subjects are very good.

Sorry for the lengthy story. Now, can i do something about this through RTI? Had applied for retotalling and the response was 'no change'. Please help.

    Re: CBSE retotalling

There are many decisions of the CIC in this connection.

The main one is a full bench decision not allowing the candidates to see the answer scripts.

Please visit the CIC website CIC and do a search for "CBSE" and you will see all the decisions.

Application for Re-totaling is required to be filed within one month from the result. There is no relaxation for this rule.

The CIC decision regarding non-disclosure of answer sheets is an old one. After that it has passed several orders allowing disclosure. You may file an RTI application seeking copies of evaluated answer sheets. There are good chances that you may get it.

Ask previous years marks and current years marks under RTI.
