CO-OP Housing Societies in Uttar Pradesh and Role of RTI

I have been told by the concerned department in UP that the Co-op Housing societies do not come under RTI. That is a member only can seek some information, that too, information only that is related to the member seeking info. It is told that such societies are not bound to answer questions sought under RTI act. Can any one throw some light on this issue ?
    regards

According to Mr Suresh Pawar of Avas Vikas Ghaziyabad, by an order in November 2008, the Co-op Hosuing societies have been taken out of the ambit of RTI ACT. Can any one give some information on whether this claim is true

    regards

    Merging the tow threads

Why don't you check with the department which issued the above notice in post #6 ?

Re: Co-operative housing society secretary is liable to act as a PIO: Khan

I spoke to Asst Commissioner Housing UP AWAS. He also says that the circular in Post #6 has later been amended (in November 2008) and now Co Op Housing Socities in U P do not come under RTI. But he was not ready to give me a copy of such an amendemend. I have my doubt whether such a comprehensive order as anexed in post # 6 can be so easily amended to take CGHS out of RTI act. If that has indeed happened, then it is a serious violation. What can I do at this stage ? Pl suggest
