CORE decries Govt on RTI

Imphal, April 05: The Centre for Organisation Research and Education (CORE) has decried the failure of the State Government to provide the information it sought on police reforms and its commissions and authorities through the RTI.

A press release issued by CORE alleged that even as the State Government had submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court declaring constitution of the State Security Commission, State Level Police Complaint Authority and the District Level Police Complaint Authority in all districts of Manipur, no such commissions or authorities can be found in the State.

Yet, the State Information Commission has decided and instructed the State authority to provide the information CORE sought within two weeks, it informed.

CORE further noted that it is high time for the State authority to implement the affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court regarding police reform in public interest as well as for the end of justice.
