Corporate-type appraisals for ministers in Haryana
CHANDIGARH: Haryana government, mostly in the news for its rustic ways that often border on the crude, is girding up for a corporate-type makeover, and how.
In what would be a landmark deviance from the brand of politics its netas are known for, ministers in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda cabinet will now have to go through annual appraisals and their continuance in power will depend on their performance graphs.
In fact, the government is so serious about this that plans are afoot to engage a company to prepare report cards of ministers. Everything will be under the scanner — public image of leaders, their working style and behaviour towards employees. Of prime importance will be their integrity quotient and record of their names cropping up in scandals.
Not just that, at least three ministers in the government have been identified as those who need to follow a strict fitness regime to pass a physical examination.
Some others, meanwhile, have to face tough questions on the discipline front. Bureaucrats won't be exempt either and will have to explain if their attendance in office is low.
