    "Every person has a right to have his reputation preserved inviolate" according tort laws. However it must be remembered that the truth of defamatory words is a complete defence to an action of libel or slander. We have to assume that the RTI revelations are true. In believing it to be true any publication of this 'truth' cannot be construed as defamation.

    All information provided under the RTI Act has to be "complete, correct and not misleading". There is no question of assumption here.

    Even true information can be defamatory. It will be covered under the exceptions to defamation (as substantiated under section 499 of IPC) only if it is in public good
