Co-operatives come under RTI Act: HC
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The High Court on Tuesday observed that “The state still relies on the English language even 40 years after the reorganisation of the state and after 35 years of implementation of the Official Language Act.”
The Court made this observation while hearing a petition by Kannika Parameshwari Co-operative Society, Hassan. The Society had appealed against the State Government’s decision to bring them under Right To Information Act.
In support of their claim, the petitioners had cited a reported statement by the National Federation of Co-Operative Societies that they do not come under Right To Information Act.
During the hearing, the court found that the department had stated that the Karnataka Co-operative Society Act, 1959 and Karnataka Sahakari Act were covered under Right To Information Act Justice N Kumar who looked into the matter came down heavily against the authorities.
He said “It is irresponsible by the officials. Obviously there is no application of mind, while issuing the notification”
It takes each of us to make difference for all of us.
